In late November 1936, blues musician Robert Johnson recorded 11 out of 16 songs which created the

iconic album King of the Delta Blues Singers.

Through an exploration of Johnsons life and music, "Between the Devil and the Deep," is an interpretation

and response to "the king of delta blues"record and how various artists recreated the energy of the record

to make something contemporary reaching demographics not familiar with the impact of Johnson.
